Wang'an lies 18 nautical miles south of Magong, the first island the county ferry reaches on its run through Penghu's southern waters, about 50 minutes after leaving town. In November 2026 that ferry leaves the South Sea pier every day at 09:30, berths at Tanmen Harbor on Wang'an at 10:20 and then carries on to Qimei. In the afternoon it comes back the same way, leaving Wang'an at 14:30 and reaching Magong at 15:20. Both times appear in the county office's November timetable and on its live timetable page.
A few dates break the pattern. On November 4, 16, 25 and 30 an extra boat leaves Magong at 08:00 and calls at Wang'an at 08:50 on its way to Qimei and Kaohsiung, so it is useful for getting there early but not for coming back. The run originally planned for November 5 moved to the 4th, the county office announced on October 30, because of the northeast monsoon. On the 17th and 26th the fixed boat returns earlier, at 13:30, and a second boat coming up from Kaohsiung leaves Wang'an at 15:30. On election day, the 28th, there are two extra sailings.
The township of Wang'an runs boats of its own as well. The Jinbada No. 10 leaves Wang'an every morning at 07:00, calls at Jiangjun and continues to Magong, then sails back from Magong at 15:30; the national Maritime and Port Bureau lists it every day up to November 13. The Wang'an Star leaves Magong at 09:00 for Wang'an, Jiangjun and the small southern islands.

The NT$273 row: reading the county fare table for Wang'an
Look for the row marked Magong–Wang'an and the 'A – general' block, which covers everyone not registered as living on Wang'an or Qimei. An adult pays NT$273, a child aged 3–11 pays NT$138, a student or member of the military or police with ID pays NT$233, and a baby under 3 pays NT$3, which is only the insurance. All of these are single fares with passenger insurance already included, and the Magong–Wang'an leg of a Kaohsiung-extension day costs the same NT$273.
The red NT$191 in the residents' block is a winter discount for residents of the four main-island townships, Magong, Huxi, Baisha and Xiyu; visitors cannot use it. The NT$138 disability fare is for Republic of China nationals, with one companion at the same price.

Xinying Road in Magong, a convenience store on Wang'an
Because the county boat continues to Qimei after Wang'an, the 09:30 is shared with day-trippers heading further south; that leg is covered on the Magong to Qimei ferry page. If you arrive in Penghu on the Kaohsiung–Magong ship, note that it docks at the commercial harbor on Linhai Road, a separate pier from the South Sea waiting room.
Magong – South Sea pier
County ferry tickets to Wang'an are sold in the South Sea waiting room at 100 Xinying Road, open 08:00 to 09:30 on the timetable page. Registered island residents get the first twenty minutes; other travelers can buy from 08:20. This is a different pier from the one used by the overnight ship from Kaohsiung.
Wang'an – Tanmen Harbor
You board at the Tanmen Harbor pier, but the county ticket desk for the trip back is inside the FamilyMart convenience store at 2-13 Dong'an Village, phone 06-999-1486. For the 14:30 return it sells from 13:30.
South from Magong to Tanmen Harbor
According to the county's fleet overview, Wang'an is 18 nautical miles from Magong and about 50 minutes away by sea, which matches the 09:30 departure and 10:20 arrival. The Nanhai Star sails from the South Sea pier next to Magong's Third Fishing Harbor and berths at Tanmen on Wang'an. The township's Jinbada No. 10 makes an extra stop at Jiangjun, the small island next to Wang'an, before reaching Magong.
Planning a day on Wang'an
- Original ID, every time
Staff want an original photo ID or a TPASS card at the ticket counter and again at the gangway. For most visitors that means the passport itself, not a copy.
- Thirty online seats for Wang'an
Only 60 seats per fixed sailing are sold online, and Wang'an gets 30 of them. Buy them through the Penghu GO ferry booking site by 21:00 the day before and board with the QR code on your phone.
- Out at 09:30, back at 14:30
For a day trip, take the 09:30 out and the 14:30 back. If you miss the 14:30 there is no other county boat to Magong that day, except on the 17th and 26th.
- Three-meter waves
The county stops this route when waves reach three meters or wind passes its limit, and the captain can also cancel. Cancellations are posted on the county office's suspension page.
- A cargo boat too
The two Nanhai Star boats also carry supplies for Wang'an and Qimei, and the office warns that heavy loading can delay the 09:30.
Three public boats for one island
So three kinds of public boat share this stretch of water. The county's Nanhai Star and Nanhai Star No. 2 run the fixed daily sailing and carry supplies for Wang'an and Qimei. The Jinbada No. 10 works the township's Wang'an–Jiangjun–Magong route. The Wang'an Star sails under a township contract covering 2025 to 2037 and links Magong with Wang'an, Jiangjun, Dongyuping and Dongji. Each sets its own fares, and the NT$273 on this page only applies to the county boat.
The county timetable also explains why November is quieter than summer: the Friday special and the overnight Qimei service operate only between April and September. That leaves the fixed sailing, a few Kaohsiung-extension days and the township boats. The county office had not yet posted a December timetable on October 30.
