Dongju–Xiju ferry
Island ferryfour round trips a day on the ten-minute Juguang Star hop
One page per route for visitors: which terminal and waiting room to go to, which sailings run in the current period and the ticket price in New Taiwan dollars. Every table carries the date we last compared it with the operator's or township office's notice.
For the people of Taiwan's outlying islands, the boat is ordinary transport rather than an excursion. Matsu's islands are linked by small island ferries, and an overnight ship runs between Keelung and Nangan or Dongyin. In Penghu, Qimei, Wang'an, Jibei and Niaoyu each have their own scheduled boats. Many sailings are posted only a few days ahead, and strong wind, high seas or a typhoon can stop them.
Check which kind of vessel you are booking. The long-distance ships have cabin classes, so the fare depends on whether you take a seat or a berth; the inter-island ferries price tickets by passenger category such as full fare and half fare. Every route page tells you the type of ship, where to board and the rules for luggage and scooters.
Where an operator has not yet published the next season's schedule, the page states that plainly instead of estimating.
Pins mark the piers, and a dotted line runs between the two ends of each route. Select a pin to see a summary and jump to the route.

It depends on the route. Half fares usually cover seniors, people with disabilities and children, with proof required when you buy, and operators decide whether a foreign document qualifies. Each page lists the conditions its operator publishes.
Most inter-island ferries sell one-way tickets, so you buy the return leg separately, and the long-distance ships may charge different prices in each direction. Every fare table states whether a price is one way or return and per person.
They are copied from the operator or the government office in charge, using its website, schedule image, fare sheet or suspension notices, and each table shows the date we checked it. Where two official notices conflict, we publish neither number and explain the gap on the page.
Sailings can be cancelled or retimed, and the operator or township office posts a suspension notice. On the day of travel, follow that notice rather than the tables here.
Only on ships with a vehicle deck, which need a separate ticket and earlier check-in; most inter-island ferries carry passengers and hand luggage only. Look for the vessel label at the top of the route page.
Yes. Each route also has a Traditional Chinese page for Taiwanese readers; it is not a translation, but it uses the same numbers and check date.
