Fuao Harbor on Nangan and Baisha Harbor on Beigan face each other across a strip of sea the bureau's timetable crosses in 15 minutes. Two companies work it, South North Shipping and Hongyu Shipping, and from 1 November they run 18 departures a day from each side between them, the first at 07:00 and the last at 17:30.
The two timetables are not evenly spaced. From Nangan there is a boat roughly every half hour between 07:00 and 09:20, then the gaps grow: after 11:30 the next departure is 12:30, and from 14:00 it settles into one an hour until 16:00. South North's midday summer extras, the 12:00 from Nangan and 12:30 from Beigan, ran only until 31 October.
There is no separate visitor price: the adult fare is NT$160 each way on either company's boat.

NT$160 a crossing, NT$80 for half fare
An adult single costs NT$160 in either direction. The county's booking system shows one fare table for the route, and the scenic area administration lists identical prices for both companies.
Seniors from 65, children aged 3 to 11, and disabled passengers together with one carer pay the NT$80 half fare; proof is shown at purchase. Children under 3 ride free. Groups of 20 or more pay NT$150 each.

Ticket counters and waiting rooms
Both ends have a ticket counter and a waiting room. South North Shipping answers on +886-836-22193 on Nangan and +886-836-55388 on Beigan; Hongyu Shipping on +886-836-23255. If the weather looks doubtful, phoning the company you are booked with is quicker than waiting at the pier.
Nangan: Fuao Harbor passenger building, ground floor
Tickets for Beigan are sold on the ground floor of the Fuao passenger building, which is also where you board; the county booking system places it behind the fishermen's association building in the harbor area. Both companies sail from here, so check which company your ticket is for.
Beigan: Baisha Harbor waiting room
Going back to Nangan, buy your ticket and wait in the Baisha pier waiting room. Beigan also has Qiaozai Harbor, but the Nangan boats use Baisha. Baisha is also the departure point of the Mini Three Links boat to Huangqi in Fujian, which needs a passport and immigration check, so make sure you are in the domestic queue.
Fuao Harbor straight to Baisha Harbor
Fuao Harbor on Nangan and Baisha Harbor on Beigan face each other across a short stretch of sea, and every registered sailing runs directly between the two with no intermediate stop. Beigan also has an airport with flights from Taiwan, but for moving between the two islands during the day this boat is the link.
Making the most of a day trip to Beigan
- Buy at the counter
The scenic area notes that some short crossings cannot be bought online and should be bought at the harbor; both terminals have counters.
- Mind the midday gap
From November, after the 11:30 from Nangan the next boat is Hongyu's 12:30; from Beigan, after 11:30 the next is Hongyu's 12:00.
- Half fare needs ID
Seniors, children and disabled passengers show proof when buying the NT$80 ticket; the published rules do not say which foreign documents are accepted, so ask at the counter.
- Fewer boats in winter
According to the scenic area, sailings are added in the summer peak and reduced in winter, and wind, waves or fog can delay or cancel them.
- Last boat back
Staying on Nangan? The last boat from Beigan is South North's 17:30, with Hongyu's 17:10 just before it.
Who runs the boats
South North Shipping also runs the Nangan–Juguang boats, the Mini Three Links service from Beigan to Huangqi and the Daqiu island boat; on this route the bureau lists its vessels 金安輪 and 閩珠8號. Hongyu Shipping runs 鴻順6號 and makes eight round trips a day. Each company registers its own sailings, which is why the schedule above keeps them apart.
